A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989, dir. Stephen Hopkins)

Here’s a fun fact: Bruce Dickinson, absolute DUDE that he is, recorded Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter especially for the soundtrack to A Nightmare on Elm Street 5. It went on to win that year’s Razzie for Worst Original Song. In a tear-jerking story of triumph over adversity, Iron Maiden re-recorded the song in 1990 and took it to UK Number 1. Of the song’s lyrical content, Dickinson said: “Here I tried to sum up what I thought the Nightmare On Elm Street movies are really about: adolescent fear of period pains.” Thanks, Bruce.

Yes, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 was a critical and commercial failure. But look closer. In this scene, Freddy forces Greta, a super-hot model, to eat herself to death in a fridge. I think I’ll tag it up as “Feeder” and watch the hits roll in.
